This International Women’s Day, Skills For Prosperity features how SA Youth is promoting youth employment in South Africa while also helping to dispel gender stereotypes, by helping young women pathway into work from which they have been typically excluded.

Skills for Prosperity is a UK cross-government programme that aims to accelerate inclusive economic growth and drive poverty reduction by supporting education and skills development of marginalised communities, particularly through technical and vocational education and training. It operates in South Africa in partnership with Harambee and our  implementation partners, the Institute of Plumbing of South Africa (IOPSA), the National Business Initiative (NBI), and BluLever Education, to skill 200 marginalised young people for income earning opportunities using technical skills, and a further 100 underemployed young people will be assisted in gaining a formal qualification, which will improve their earnings and career prospects.
